However dealing with 32-bit issues are a PITA and considering the causes of, IMO, most of the -CURRENT build failures over the past year, I suspect others may also feel the same way. Also, when there are i386 buildworld failures, people hardly complain. I do because my build scripts here build both (which I also do for ports). It is a fair bit of overhead. > > The VPS has only 20G of disk space and ZFS compression gives > compressratio 2.22x for ports, 2.51x for src, 2.29x for obj > and 1.95x for installed i386 system plus other software and data. I used a 768 MB Pentium M with compressed ZFS on a 40 GB disk, I think that was about 10 or 12 years ago. Documented on our wiki. That same machine is now my i386 testbed, used a few times a year. It now has 2 GB RAM and 150 GB disk. Same configuration, just a little bigger. -- Cheers, Cy Schubert <Cy.Schubert@cschubert.com> FreeBSD UNIX: <cy@FreeBSD.org> Web: http://www.FreeBSD.org The need of the many outweighs the greed of the few.
