Hello,

Sorry it took such a long time. The machine in question is placed in a
remote, somewhat inaccesible location and seemed happy in staying up, so I
didn't have a big opportunity of testing things in a jiffy.

The symptoms are still there in an unpatched FreeBSD 2.2.7-STABLE #0: Thu
Aug 27 22:07:28 CEST 1998 system. The patches helped though. Is this
something that could be commited and turned on with a kernel option?

Thank you very much for your help

Best regards,
Are Bryne
