:: 1) Is this possible? Sure, anything's possible :) :: 2) What is the correct method? Edit your supfile and change the tag to 'RELENG_4_6_2_RELEASE'. Re-sup your source, and then follow the instructions in the handbook for upgrading your system from source: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/makeworld.html :: 3) Is this a particularly painful procedure? Not at all, as long as you follow the instructions, do mergemaster (many people forget to do this), and read UPDATING before you begin. :: PS: I have already tried to find what I need in both the handbook and :: the faq, but to no real end. I've only found instructions for keeping :: up-to-date with a single release track (such as RELEASE, STABLE, or :: CURRENT), and nothing for changing tracks. The available cvs tags are located in Appendix A.7. These are kept pretty well up-to-date.
