A suggestion if I might. Not everyone has the time to do proper preparation for testing a release candidate. But, if provided with a copy of the CD, I'm sure you could find enough people to test and report problems. I've had a subscription to FreeBSD since 2.something, and usually never use the CDs shipped to me except for the occasional fresh installation or retrieving a package that I'm too lazy to build from the ports. But, in the interest of building a better product for release, if I were to recieve an RC distribution on CD, I would gladly install and test it. So, how about a release cycle like this: Step 1: Freeze the code Burn 100-200 copies (CD 1 only) Ship to folks who volunteer to test Step 2: Receive and collate feedback Step 3: Fix bugs If there were major bugs, repeat If no major bugs, then release Ya know, I might even be willing to pay $5-10 for the privilage of being an RC tester. -Troy ** -----Original Message----- ** From: owner-freebsd-stable@FreeBSD.ORG ** [mailto:owner-freebsd-stable@FreeBSD.ORG]On Behalf Of Jordan K.
