You have to comment out the register RADEON_SOFT_RESET_HDP in
/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/drivers/ati/radeon_accel.c in
and for DRI in
/xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/os-support/linux/drm/kernel/radeon_cp.c
(with the | before the register)

If so, I just tried that. Same effect. This is from XFree86 4.1.0 that's
in ports as of yesterday. I actually couldn't find the second part
mentioned (the os-support/linux/drm/kernel/... edit to do. Grep turned up
nothing, which I was surprised about.

In answer to Matt Meola, yes, it reboots when I do XFree86 -configure too.

Still, I know that if ever I can't use the reboot program for some
reason... :)
