I was probably half asleep when I wrote that answer :) it's been a stressful week. I should correct myself - more often than not ISPs just use PVCs. The userland PPP could probably be run on top of a device node exporting the PVC. I prefer the idea of in-kernel ppp, though, for 1Mbps+ xDSL use. BMS
