I have the ESS Maestro 3 chip on the Dell Inspiron 400
laptop. The device is not probed during boot time
(device pcm0 in kernel config, and dmesg does not show
this device).
So I did "kldload snd_maestro3" by hand
and "cat /dev/sndstat" shows
Installed Device:
pcm0: <ESS Technology Maestro3> port 0xc800 ...
irq 5 at device 8.0 on pci0
but when I tried running "xmms" I get
"device not configured" error message.
any hints or pointers on this?
