I tried the Wolfenstein test demo on 4.4-RELEASE with OpenGL/G400.
Except that it was totally unplayable on the machine (500 MHz K6-2) I tried,
it ran OK. I'll try some other (less CPU demanding) OpenGL Linux games on
this machine when I find the time. I'd really like to try it on my new
machine (Athlon 1.4 GHz) but there seems to be no FreeBSD AGP-GART support for
the AMD-760 chipset, so consequently DRI doesn't work for the G400.
(I'm very happy though with my ancient Voodoo2 card in this machine as it
doesn't need any DRI - it uses Glide instead, and most games including
the Wolfenstein test demo appear to work fine with Glide.)

Are you sure that you also updated your modules?

I don't know about a PR, but this problem exists since the pcm mega commit
around February 2nd. Versions after this date make my Quake3 silent. There
is some error message when starting Quake3, but I can't remember the exact
contents now.

Concerning other games (at least on my hardware):

Unreal Tournament: sound OK at the moment (had sound lag in the past).
Soldier of Fortune: sound OK with version 1.04, sound lag with v1.06
Rune: sound lag
Wolfenstein test: no sound with FreeBSD 4.4, but works OK with 4.2.

I worked around by purchasing the OSS sound driver; SoF and Rune now both
have correct sound. Unfortunately, OSS does not work with UT and neither
with Quake3, so I keep rebooting (unloading and loading the OSS driver
after boot time is like Russian roulette: the machine sometimes hangs up)

Karel.
