I really can't recommend RELEASE for a laptop because so many fixes have been made since then to CardBus, interrupt routing, and several other things. Current is a bit of a crap-shoot, but is semi-frozen at this time and is generally pretty stable. I don't recall what all problems I was having back at RELEASE, but my laptop (600E at that time) did not run very well. It did run, though. I have always been running the T30 at CURRENT since I updated from STABLE.
