-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hello, I'm currently messing around with a HPT 370 based IDE RAID card on FreeBSD 4.4 RELEASE and wanted to try what's going to happen if one disk breaks down and so I disconnected it from power during a make installworld run and while I expected the system to run like it should, it stopped dumped some error messages on the console, among them that it can't write to ad6 (the disk I took down was ad6) and that ar0 has broken subdisks. But after that, I couldn't even get hit Ctrl-Alt-Del on the console to reboot the system and had to hard reset it to get it back to life.... What's wrong here? Personally, I expect a RAID 1 configuration to survive the failure of one disk and to work until I decide to have time to replace the disk and not just hang until somebody hits reset. Is this the fault of FreeBSD or of the Highpoint chipset (I can't check as I haven't got a Promise based card near me)?
