I'm running Wu-FTP and can't seem to find any real info, except for the statement that it adds security. Anonymous FTP is fine. Here's my problem. Users can see anything on the machine. I did do a "chmod 711" on the /home subdir, so "backing" up one level hides that. Of course, someone can just "cd /home" and see everything. Also, a user can just keep going up a level and see everything on the system. I hesitate to "chmod 711" on every subdir -- I really don't know if this would bomb out other software? Of course, a savy user could just "cd /etc" or something. I've been using War-FTPD on an NT box, with the FreeBSD drive mapped using Samba. I'd really prefer to use FreeBSD and get rid of that @#$@#$ NT! Surely there's a way to prevent users from seeing/downloading things outside their home subdir????
