I have:
A Tyan S1462 Tempest II dual 80586 motherboard, 2 100 MHz 80586's
(Intel calls them Pentiums...), 512K standard L2 cache (not synchronous),
16MB ram, AHA 2940 SCSI, SMC etherpower DEC 21041 PCI ethernet (10Mb),
GUS sound board, generic ISA io card (2 serial, 1 parallel, etc.), and
a hercules video card.

I grabbed FreeBSD-current (as of 7-16-1996 or so), supped sys-src
release=smp, and compiled with options SMP and "NCPU=2".

It said:
Jul 17 10:28:23 teryx /kernel: =========> SECOND CPU LAUNCHED!! <=========
when I said "sysctl -w kern.smp_active=2"

As a change of pace from the usual messages: It worked. YAY! :-)

I have noticed a few things though... (ok... not much of a change of pace.)

My machine is not recognized as a dual 80586.
Jul 17 10:26:15 teryx /kernel: RENT #0: Wed Jul 17 10:23:51 EDT 1996
Jul 17 10:26:15 teryx /kernel:     protius@teryx:/usr/src/smpsys/compile/TERYX
...
Jul 17 10:27:00 teryx /kernel: i586 clock: 0 Hz
Jul 17 10:27:00 teryx /kernel: CPU: Pentium (100.22-MHz 586-class CPU)
Jul 17 10:27:00 teryx /kernel:   Origin = "GenuineIntel"  Id = 0x526 \
Stepping=6
It definitely runs like one.

The sound works great, but skips every once in a while. It said:
Jul 17 23:43:22 teryx /kernel: isa_dmastart: channel 6 busy

Every once in a while, windows will popup fine, except that there are no
contents.  Probably related to:
Jul 17 23:43:21 teryx /kernel: de0: receiver: FIFO overflow

And there are many zillions of messages like:
Jul 20 01:07:32 teryx /kernel: calcru: negative time: -1517 usec
(I have 4 machines running timed, if that is important...)

My uptime is 2+15:15 now. Thanks for writing the SMP stuff!
