[-- Attachment #1 --] Hello, I have got a machine running freebsd 2.2.7 with one ethernetcard and ip adres for it. I want to add an alias to that. I have tried ifconfig with: #ifconfig fxp0 inet 62.12.26.142 netmask 0xffffffe0 alias but I get an error saying: #ifconfig: ioctl (SIOCAIFADDR): File exists When I look at the device with ifconfig after that it has been added, but it does not work, no response with ping. any idee someone?? thanks, Geerd Kakes [-- Attachment #2 --] <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD W3 HTML//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <META content=text/html;charset=iso-8859-1 http-equiv=Content-Type> <META content='"MSHTML 4.72.2106.6"' name=GENERATOR> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2>Hello,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2>I have got a machine running freebsd 2.2.7 with one ethernetcard and ip adres for it.
