Hello,

I have been trying to run an NFS server on my 4.2 Stable machine but the NFS
server capability refuses to start.

In rc.conf I have:
portmap_enable="YES"
nfs_server_enable="YES"

But on reboot, kernel gives the message:
Jan 2 19:39:13 topaz nfsd:[107]: can't register with udp portmap

and mountd times out. Consequently the NFS server is never enabled :-(

The machine I am trying to enable 4.2Stable is a web/email server machine and
all interfaces are working properly and pinging is also successful.

The ifconfig -a output is as follows:
dc0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
        inet 192.168.1.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255

I looked up similar problems in the mail archives of this and
freebsd-questions, but I could not find a solution. Sorry if this is a
repetition.

Thanks,
Umesh
