I purchased two n64's last october - one for the kid and one for me to
take apart.

Unless there is a memory management unit on the r4300 chip we would need
to also add some hardware to the n64 to bring it up to snuff.  Other than
that it looks totally do-able :-)  It should be possible to do a small
hardware makeover and wind up with a low end sgi platform.
