https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D231646 Bug ID: 231646 Summary: bsdinstall(8) Unable to resolve own hostname, causes local mail to only queue Product: Base System Version: 11.2-RELEASE Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Only Me Priority: --- Component: bin Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: leeb@ratnaling.org Using bsdinstall(8) I made a new system but did not configure the network. After booting into the system, local mail was not working and I was unable = to root@my-test-mach:~ # ping `hostname` ping: cannot resolv my-test-mach: Host name lookup failure This causes all local mail to fail, /var/spool/mqueue just fills up. perio= dic scripts therefore don't populate root's mail. Solved by manually adding hostname to /etc/hosts --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.=
