 * This question was not about _maintaing_ particular port but about port
 * _existence_ in whole ports structure, so scope is more wide than port
 * maintainer area.

It's still up to the maintainer.  I almost never override the
maintainer's decision to delete or keep a port.  At least not with
good reason.

Besides, it is just plain rude to delete the port without at least
asking the maintainer first.
