The problem is that the ftp.maske.org ftp server returns an empty
response to "LIST mod_auth_mysql41_ap2_1.00.tar.gz". To save
bandwidth, the distfile checker doesn't actually download any files;
it just tries the equivalent of an "ls" command on each file
(or an HTTP "HEAD" for http: or https: URLs).

If this is a policy of ftp.maske.org, I can create a "blacklist"
of sites for which I know this algorithm doesn't work.

  Bill
