Only when I'm trying to encourage someone to send their question to a more
appropriate list. :)

It's very common mailing list practice to respond to both the person who
sent the mail and the list. There are several reasons for this:

1. It lets the other list members know that the question has been
addressed, so that they don't have to answer it themselves.

2. The mailing lists are archived.

3. Someone else may have the same question, so both for those reading the
lists in real time, and those reading the archives, it's good that the
answer is sent to everyone.

Hope this helps,

Doug
